Emalee Zingher, LPC

As human beings, we face many chapters in our lives. At times they bring us joy, such as when we find love in a partner, have a child, enjoy friendship, or receive a promotion. Sometimes life will throw us a curveball, such as losing a job, the passing of a loved one, illness, and financial distress. These curveballs can leave us feeling overwhelmed and stressed to the point where we lash out or shut down.

Whether you are experiencing depression, anxiety, self doubt, or fear, I am here to help you walk through this chapter of your life with understanding and openness. I’ve worked with adolescents, new adults, and older adults. I support all backgrounds, whether those within the LGBTQIA community, all religions, and all race/ethnicity backgrounds, I am your ally. I believe in tailoring my services to what best fits your needs through a person-centered approach. I utilized an integrated approach of incorporating empirical based neuroscientific theories such as Polyvagal Theory with psychotherapy approaches Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Solution Brief Focused Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. I love incorporating education to my session with you about your body, mind, and self so you have a larger understanding of yourself.

I am very passionate about working with people with periods' hormone-based issues, especially with Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, and those dealing with thyroid issues, such as hyper/hypothyroidism and Hashimoto’s disease. I also have an interest in working with others with chronic pain and illness to work on how to cope and alleviate the psychological pain and stress behind chronic conditions.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and I have earned my Masters of Science in Counselor Education from East Carolina University in 2018. I also earned two post-graduate certifications in Military and Trauma Counseling and Substance Abuse Counseling from East Carolina University in 2020. I am also a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional since 2022. I am also Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy trained and working on my certification through EMDRIA.

In my free time, I love taking nature walks, reading books, taking day trips to local spots, hanging out with friends and family, and spending time with my pets.
